One 2 One’s Valentine Quiz & Date was a very easy-going, fun affair with everyone finding themselves surprisingly relaxed.
Because the participants were divided into same-sex teams which were then paired with opposite-sex teams, people found the set-up conducive to opening up and chatting, allowing their personalities to shine through. This made for a very entertaining and successful evening. As one of those who attended commented, ‘It felt more like a social club than a dating event, which I thought was really good. That kind of atmosphere has less pressure, is more relaxing and far more natural.’
The evening began with the usual complimentary glass of Cava, laid on by Corks; registration; and a short time for participants to meet one another. This was followed by a brief introduction which covered how the quiz aspect of the event would be incorporated into the One 2 One Speed Dating Experience.
Once everyone was seated the quiz began and the overall success of the evening can be put down to several factors, not least the topics and questions put to the participants. These were varied and included some really fun themes such as: Valentine Trivia; Guess the TV Theme Tune; and Match the Celebrity Couples. The friendly atmosphere, participants’’ willingness to get the most out of the evening, and perhaps even the challenge of winning the competition itself contributed greatly to the eventual outcome of the event. During the intervals between question rounds most made their way to the bar, giving them a chance to refresh their drinks and catch up with those who may have caught their eye!
Once the quiz finished, all the participants were asked to complete their Matchcards and hand them in. The results of their matches were then e-mailed to them within the next few days.
When the scores of all the teams were verified, the winning female team was asked to choose the male team they believed helped them the most to share their prizes of Champagne and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates with. They decided, however that there were three male teams that had been indispensable to them and ended up dividing the spoils between all three teams!
So, once again the Speed Dating format was a triumph! And what better way to express this than in the participants’ own words…
